Technological advancements in renewable energy and carbon capture

February 9, 2023 - Molecular biology researcher Michael Guarnieri works in his lab at the Integrated Biorefinery Research Facility (IBRF) at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, Colorado. Guarnieri is part of the CO2 Reduction for e-Fuels Consortium, which develops and derisks advanced technologies that use renewable electricity to convert carbon dioxide into e-fuels and commodity chemicals. A collaboration of five U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) national laboratories, the CO2 Reduction and Upgrading for E-Fuels Consortium is developing an integrated portfolio of technologies that use renewable electricity to upgrade carbon dioxide (CO2) into valuable fuels and chemicals.
